Pham Tri Trung
Darven is led by Pham Tri Trung, a Vietnamese practising lawyer with more than two decades of experience working with businesses, law firms and the Vietnamese court system.
His practice has developed at the intersection of law and business. A substantial part of his career has been spent working directly within a large foreign-invested industrial enterprise in Vietnam, dealing with legal issues as they arise in real business operations — contracts, investment, projects, regulatory matters, commercial disputes and complex questions that do not always have an obvious answer in the legislation.
Earlier in his career, he worked in private legal practice and at the Supreme People’s Court of Vietnam.
This combination of private practice, judicial experience and long-term in-house work shapes the way Darven approaches legal problems: understand the business first, identify what really matters, and then apply the law to find a workable path.

Darven is intentionally small.
Clients work directly with the lawyer handling the matter. There are no unnecessary layers between the question, the analysis and the advice.
We do not try to turn every issue into a lengthy legal memorandum. Some matters require detailed analysis. Others require a clear answer, a practical assessment of risk and a recommendation.
The form should follow the problem.
Where the law is clear, we say so. Where it is uncertain, we explain the uncertainty. Where several approaches are possible, we identify the trade-offs and help the client choose a path that makes sense for the business.

Darven works directly on matters within its areas of focus and, where appropriate, collaborates with Vietnamese law firms and other professional advisers.
This allows each matter to be handled with a structure suited to the client’s needs, while keeping Darven’s role focused on the legal analysis, judgment and direct involvement that brought the client to us.
